THIS PCB, WHICH IS CURRENTLY BEING FABRICATED OVERSEAS, IS PART OF A CUSTOM NIXIE TUBE DISPLAY THAT I AM BUILDING FOR A DATA TRANSFER COMPANY. IT WILL SERVE AS A FUN LIVE DISPLAY OF THE TOTAL NUMBER OF GIGABYTES TRANSFERRED IN THEIR COMPANY'S HISTORY.
THE BOARD USES HIGH VOLTAGE ICS, DRIVER CIRCUITRY, AND SHIFT REGISTERS TO CONTROL 10 NUMERIC DIGITS AND DECIMAL POINTS. THE DRIVE CIRCUITRY AND MICROCONTROLLER CODE WAS PROTOTYPED ON A BREADBOARD WITH A SINGLE TUBE AND A SINGLE DIRECT DRIVEN DRIVER IC. i THEN EXPANDED TO MULTIPLE BLOCKS OF PARALLEL SHIFT REGISTERS TO CREATE A MULTI-DIGIT VERSION WITH WIRING COMPARABLE TO THE FINAL PCB. AFTER MANY ITERATIONS OF POWER FILTERING, MOUNTING, AND IC INTERFACE CIRCUITRY, I DESIGNED THE FINAL TRACE LAYOUT AND EXPECT TO SOLDER COMPONENTS TO IT SOON.
I HAVE ALSO DEVELOPED, TESTED, AND VERIFIED A WEB SERVER AND INTERFACE WHICH STREAMS THE DATA TO BE DISPLAYED FROM THE COMPANY'S DATABASE TO THE MICROCONTROLLER VIA AN ETHERNET OR WIFI CONNECTION.
